Fantastic Ants and Where to Find Them
Presented by the Adams Lab at the Museum of Biological Diversity

Believe it or not, ants aren't just household pests that appear when we leave crumbs about. In fact, they are are vital to healthy ecosystems. In Ohio alone there are over 130 different ant species, each playing a different role in nature! Join PhD students Victoria and Kyle as they talk about some of the ants you can find in your own backyard and how you can contribute to science by being a backyard ant biologist.

This program is appropriate for all ages!

The Adams Lab aims to understand the ecology and evolution of ant symbioses. We accomplish this by (1) identifying how ants and their symbionts use chemicals to communicate, (2) measuring how certain traits ants possess have changed throughout time, and (3) determining the genetic roots of interesting traits.
