Early math learning is foundational for children’s future academic success. A multi-level view of early math learning will be examined including the big picture of early math standards in Big Ten states, assessing math learning in the classroom and at home, and the brain science of numerical development. Agenda: The State of Early Learning Standards for Mathematics in the Big Ten States: The Need for Consistent and Data-Based Expectations — Dr. David Purpura (Purdue University) Overview of LLAMA (Links to Learning Adaptive Math Assessment) for Preschoolers — Dr. Kristen Missall (University of Washington) Interactive Relations between Children's Home Environment and the Neurocognitive Basis of Numerical Development — Dr. Ece Demir Lira (University of Iowa) This event is open to all including researchers, policymakers, students, practitioners, journalists and parents who are interested in early math learning.
