Racism as the Diagnosis: Exploring Racism and Medical Trauma as Social Determinants of Health and Effective Strategies for Change is a workshop that explores the impact of racism as a social determinant of health in African American communities. Participants of this workshop will review the history of medical trauma within the African American community followed by a review of the present-day impact of racism on health disparities. This workshop will conclude with a discussion on effective strategies that can be utilized in local communities to promote healthcare equality and address medical trauma and mistrust of the healthcare system.

Important notes regarding CEUs and Attendance:
•Each participant must submit an individual registration to receive CEUs. Please do not share your unique Zoom webinar link.
•CEUs will be awarded to attendees that participate in the full webinar, which will be automatically recorded by Zoom upon your arrival to and departure from the webinar. Partial credit will not be awarded, with no exceptions. Be sure to plan ahead so that you are logged into the webinar on time.
•CEUs will be reported to CE Broker within 30 days for those who provide their license numbers upon registration or when completing the post-course evaluation.

Brittany is the Founder and Executive Director of Matters of Our Mind, LLC, and serves as a consultant for educators, nonprofit organizations, and corporate leaders to address structural racism, understand historical trauma, and provide evidence- based models that promote racial healing. As a former prison therapist and supervisor for a community based mental health team in metropolitan Atlanta, Brittany understands the impact of systemic racism and trauma, and believes that balanced historical perspective coupled with evidenced-based practices create individuals qualified to impact change. Brittany holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Oakwood University and a Master of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University.
