Factors Associated with Suicidal Ideation Among Transgender Individuals: Current Status and Future Directions
According to the World Health Organization, suicide is the 10th-leading cause of death. Moreover, previous research has demonstrated a higher propensity of suicidal behaviors among individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). More research is needed to elucidate factors associated with LGBT populations, including transgender individuals. The present study sought to investigate suicidal ideation among a large sample of transgender individuals. Findings can assist mental health professionals, health educators, and behavioral health professionals.
