OBCI Webinar: Sandhill Crane Recovery and Current Status in Ohio

Description

Sandhill cranes, currently listed as state threatened, have made a tremendous recovery in Ohio, and the region, since they returned to the state as breeders in 1987. This talk will include an overview of sandhill crane biology and life history, provide an update of the current population status and extent in Ohio, and highlight the upcoming Ohio Crane Count on Saturday April 15, 2023.

She has been studying birds for over 20 years and has worked on a variety of avian conservation and research projects in Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and New York. In addition, she holds a M.S. in Resource Ecology Management from the University of Michigan, where she studied black-throated blue warblers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and a PhD in Wildlife Science from the Ohio State University, where she studied the effects of predation risk on nesting songbirds in central Ohio’s riparian forests. --- The Ohio State University --- Please direct question about this webinar to the webinar organizer.
