For those of us jumping in for the first time, will you send what recordings would be helpful to review for the web of engagement deeper dive.
Ashley Kulhanek
41:22
Adobe spark will host the video for you to embed in the website, but other programs may not. Question: Should we be uploading videos to a personal you tube to share from, or should we be using the OSUE you tube page?
Amy Kohmetscher (she/her)
42:52
@Cassie, we'll post some relevant stuff in the chat here at the end. We have a number of resources posted on the LOD site.

Examples of engagement...?
Sally Hennessy
52:07
Any info you can share regarding length vs attention span for informational videos would be helpful..
Amy Kohmetscher (she/her)
52:08
@Heather are you thinking engagement as in, how do we determine if the audience engaged with content?
Danae Wolfe
54:00
@Sally - research varies on ideal video length. Here’s a link that provides an overview: https://www.talkingtreecreative.com/blog/video-marketing-2/the-impact-of-video-length-on-engagement/
Danae Wolfe
54:12
Most sources offer similar information.
Sally Hennessy
54:27
Beautiful Thanks Danae!
Danae Wolfe
54:30
A few important points - your video length should be the right amount of time to tell your story - no more, no less.
Danae Wolfe
55:16
Also - Facebook, in particular, prioritizes videos that are at least 3 minutes. This seems longer than what most people think.
Sally Hennessy
55:20
Because I planned :-/ yes.
Danae Wolfe
56:08
One final note - you want to capture the attention of your audience in the first 10 seconds. If you don’t, you’ll lose engagement.
Cassie Anderson
57:00
suggestions if your working with kids - not sure the 7 year old will script well
Heather Neikirk
58:01
@Amy-I am working on a tip sheet to collect videos from 4-H families and MGVs-so thinking of ides or examples that I can share with them. The videos will be used as part of a Farm to School Virtual field trip
Danae Wolfe
58:19
Working with kids is definitely a different scenario. Scripting probably isn’t the best method - kids are wild cards (and that’s the beauty of working with children). Have a good idea of what you intend to film - a general storyboard and narrative will be helpful.
Danae Wolfe
58:43
But be flexibility with children and allow for laughs!
Danae Wolfe
59:08
And remember, you can always edit outtakes in post!

I have a bug zoo, and want to show off my bugs to people, but I'm struggling with how to create a narrative with this. Right now, I'm just going "Here's this bug...and this one... and this one...
Danae Wolfe

Jeni - I might suggest a one insect/spider species per video. You could approach this from a variety of perspectives. You can introduce the species, offer some fun facts, maybe mix it up with some fun stock photos and text overlay. Talk about the native range, what they eat, their ecologic/economic importance.

01:08:43
So if we make a video and send to you, you can post on extension youtube, and then I can use that link to put on our department website?
Ashley Kulhanek
01:09:06
Jeni does entomology have its own you tube site?
ruisch.2
01:09:27
Not to my knowledge. If we do, it's not active.
Danae Wolfe
01:10:04
Jeni - you can use this link to request that your content is post to the OSU Extension Professionals YouTube Channel: https://communications.cfaes.ohio-state.edu/resources/marketing-and-brand-strategy/add-content-youtube
Danae Wolfe
01:10:12
From here, you’ll get a link to embed on your website.

01:10:13
I'd like to make one, but am having trouble because youtube automatically connected to my google account, and I don't want it connected to me personally.

01:10:36
John is there anyway we could get open/close assets with the College logo and 4-H clover and the same for lower third?
Danae Wolfe
01:10:50
Another note - if you post to the ento Facebook page, post natively to Facebook. Do not link a YouTube video to Facebook (they don’t play nicely).
graham.697
01:11:21
the assets are very helpful
Heather Neikirk
01:11:26
I would be interested in the 4-H open/close as well
Ashley Kulhanek
01:11:44
John- right now I’m using powerpoint to create intro pages. But I know the professional OSU videos have like a slide in for the lower left - where can we get that?

01:12:24
Is branding able to add those things for us? (logos, etc.)
Danae Wolfe
01:12:34
Ashley - video assets available here: https://brand.cfaes.ohio-state.edu/templates/video-templatesgraphics
Danae Wolfe
01:12:42
Is that what you were looking for?
Ashley Kulhanek
01:13:26
I think so. It doesn’t look like what I’m thinking of but those may be older videos.
