Microbiome Mini Symposium - Shared screen with speaker view
Joanna Copio
I was talking to Dr. Stacey Meeker at OSU ULAR earlier today and she shared that there seems to be a conundrum with mice-they are relatively hardy when it comes to tolerating procedures in which aseptic techniques are altered (utilizing spor-klenz to sterilize our gloves, soaking surgical instruments in alcohol, having imperfect wound closure by researchers and students, etc.). I was wondering if there may be something particular about the murine microbiome, whether it be gut, skin, etc. that serves as a protective factor for mice compared to other species that are more prone to post-surgical infection.
