There are insecticides that can repel them from nesting yet won’t harm other bees or pollinators. They are very difficult to dissuade once they sniff your cedar…

What is the Living Landscapes Short Course Julia?

If you live in an area that has an HOA please check for any requirements before doing a lawn conversion. I know of someone who had their traditional lawn replaced with a pollinator friendly mix only to have to rip it out because it did not follow the HOA guidelines. It was a very expensive lesson.
