Moritz College of Law students are invited to join the Drug Enforcement and Policy Center for a discussion of the Netflix documentary Grass is Greener. Discussion will be led by Assistant Professor Sean Hill with Distinguished Cannabis Policy Practitioner in Residence Shaleen Title.
Using the documentary as a point of departure, the discussion will examine whether ongoing efforts to legalize marijuana and increase diversity in the industry are responsive to the scale of harm wrought by the War on Drugs. Given the myriad ways that marijuana has contributed to the mass criminalization of Black and Latinx people, we will address how select strategies fall short and identify solutions that are aligned with principles of racial equity.
Students are invited to watch the film on their own time, but it is not a requirement for attending the discussion. If students would like to watch the film but do not have a Netflix account, they should email Jana Hrdinova for assistance.
In lieu of food, attendees will receive a $10 Hot Chicken Takeover gift card or BuckID credit after the discussion.
We strive to host inclusive events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you require accommodation, such as live captioning, please email Jana Hrdinova at email@example.com. Please provide us with as much advanced notice as possible.
