Consider, not that you just “work” in student affairs, but that you are a practitioner within student affairs. This simple reframing means that you don’t just “do” something in SA. It means that you are actively engaged in the work of SA as an art and a discipline. As such you should be committed to seeking out opportunities that allow you to further grow in your mindset, build new skills, and create/practice/implement new tools in service to the profession.
